For the last month or so as long as I am not working I have been attending Zumba classes at the gym and I love it. I am not great and some days go better then others. But it is such a great workout and the people who attend the class and the instructors are amazing. I have started to try different classes and they all have been fabulous.
I think the classes have played a huge part in helping me with motivations. We have done a great deal of decluttering which in turn makes me more motivated to do more stuff.

Best intentions
I decided against doing the Freaky Fast Half. I got sick (pneumonia) and it took weeks to recover. I knew I couldn't safely run the race. I was disappointed. My sister asked me to Moab trail half with her and declined. Trail Runs don't usual have the water stations that road runs do. I am considering doing a 10k in the fall. Maybe a half in the spring. Or maybe not.

This one will be Fast...Freaky Fast
I wasn't going to but I decided to do a half marathon in July. My sister asked me to do one with her in Utah in November and I wanted to be better prepared so I am doing a half in July and then if my sister has the money we will do one in November.
It is called the Freaky Fast because it is all downhill and one of the fastest halfs in the country.
I decided to go back to the beach body work out I did last summer for weight training. I have already started.

Up and Down
From 1/1- 3/1 I lost eight pounds I was doing really well. And then...
Depression is a horrible thing. There were some days when getting out of bed was a struggle. The thought of doing anything beyond what I "needed" to do was mind boggling. I went back to some of my old habits and I gained some not all of that weight back. With Easter come longer days and a new commitment. I deal better with my depression when the weather is good.
Tomorrow starts yoga again and back to drinking more water. In theory I would like to get up early and walk. Today I did that and it was fabulous. We will see if it really works out. Working late at night and then getting up early doesn't always go hand in hand. But we will see. Plus there are those days I work at 8 and not sure I can get up and walk and get to work on time.

One Month of Yoga
So a few days before the year ended I found a website that was 30 day of Yoga. Truly life changing. I have been so much more peaceful since I started yoga (nearly) every morning.
I have more focus and more clarity.
When I do nighttime yoga I sleep so much better. I am not nearly as consistent with doing it at night.
I did the 30 days for January. It was such a great experience I am considering starting again.
There is such a peace and strength that comes from yoga.

Taking a break in 2018
I have decided that I likely won't be running a half this year. I will still run some but in my heart it doesn't feel like training for a half is where this year will take me. Maybe it is the cold weather talking and I will change my mind as the weather warms up. And in that case there is a run in July that I may do.
But right now I am content to do workouts at home and breathe for a moment before doing something else. There is a new work out coming out this month that I may get. It is an 80 day work out and I think it may be perfect for me to get through the rest of the winter. Every day is different which I love the idea of.
I started doing Yoga twice a day and I love it. It truly brings peace to my soul.
So once the weather changes I may be singing a different tune.
My goal for 2018 is to lose 36 pounds which is three a month. Honestly, not sure that will happen but it is what I am aiming for.

Yet another one
So my third and slowest half was yesterday.
The good:
I finished.
I ran the whole thing solo.
I didn't throw up.
I didn't pee myself.
I didn't black out.
I stayed hydrated.
I had people cheering for me at the end.
The bad:
I was slow. (3:13)
I really hurt at the end.
I walked too much
The medal was ugly
Nobody from the family was there when I crossed.
In the end I did it. Doing research on how to get faster and it all comes down to interval training. So I am going to have to step that up. It will be painful in the beginning but in the end it will pay off if I stick to it.
Here is to the next one. May I be stronger and faster next time around.
